The CodysseyXP Manifesto: Why We Choose to “Think Different”

The Core Mission

Once upon a time there was a quote stated that has impacted the new century like no other across America and the world and still does to this day, even down to the tools you’re reading this from but also what they meant for us. It left an impact on me for the reason of what it means for the culture we’re living in and the tsunami of constant pressure by endless information and not allowing the process of elimination into a perfected ideal of your own life. That quote was Think Different. This was an ad campaign credited to Steve Jobs as the single campaign that saved Apple’s reputation and carried it to the future we see today, even if the momentum has faded. Even so, its spirit is a torch handed to us in the very same light, to Think Different even if the world says you’re wrong. Think Different because it’s what turns the wheels of a revolution, it changes things and reinvents the status quo, it creates new hopes and dreams and it inspires others to follow.

Revolutions Create Invention, and Invention Uplifts Human Potential.

We have to believe that our own beliefs are unique and that no one else can replicate their beauty because it is uniquely yours, and it only takes the will of a single man to change the tide of history. For Jobs, love him or hate him, he saw that very same revolution and saw a future for computing as a tool that can uplift humanity, can unlock their highest potential and let them create and express themselves like never before in history. It wasn’t about what was inside it but what it could do for you, how it can bring the best out of us. It’s this mentality that inspired me to use the same slogan in my own channel banner and trailer, to Think Different in the era of shorts and reels, of AI and artificial, superficial fake products that lost the humanity that made it so great. I write because I have a bleeding heart for a world that has lost its ability to feel and perceive beautiful things, and I believe that it can still return in greater form than ever. I also see video games as this same medium, the creations of artists and revolutionaries who saw computers in the very same light that Jobs did, to unlock and elevate human potential through creativity and expressive art. And what greater medium is there to create a piece of software you can interact with and take joy from at the same time? That is why I created this website, an evolution from a man who once posted as a hobby into someone who had their spirit invested into me, and I believe that generations need a new hope in a world of adults who lack inspiration or heart or passion. Robin Williams once said that we have a little spark of madness inside us, and if we lose that, we’re nothing. So many adults my age have lost that spark of madness and don’t seek to take on the mantle of a leader for younger generations when we have more reason than ever before, and I have been inspired by the spirit of adventure that we grew up with that was written by great artists, musicians, animators, visionaries, and wizards with code and design. If anyone was born before the new millennium, we have to recognize that the culture we grew up with was a gift imparted to us and not to be taken for granted. Children born today do not have the same spirit imparted to them and it leaves us with the responsibility to do great things for their sake and for the sake of our own souls, and if no one else will do it, I will.

Cody + Odyssey: Why I Chose This Name.

My goal is to capture that spirit of adventure once again in a world of artificial metrics, and I see this as a journey not just for all of you but for myself as well. Therefore I imagined Cody’s Odyssey, and in an endearingly tacky way, combined those together to make Codyssey. I also imagined the watermarks of Cartoon Network or Toonami and classic Saturday morning cartoons, and saw XP as a fun way that remarked to the days that we grew up with, not just my brand but X, extreme and cool and exciting. Combine those together and you have a thoughtful, poetic journey with the extreme, exciting, energetic nature of the early 2000’s like rock and underground techno and skateboarding and an event you simply can’t miss. I stuck with this vision and I believe in it, I want generations to see me and I want to impart something to them that means something, and that means respecting and paying homage to those who came before, and lifting up their work in a new revolution that reminds the world that it was never about the technology, it’s about the message. My very first video ever made was Pac-Man, which was poetically the genesis of the new era of gaming and is still adored to this day because it changed the medium of entertainment. Everything is within and begins in our own imagination. If you tell someone to remark on a sunrise, they will create an image that is uniquely theirs. Video games gave us all the opportunity to live in a world besides our own that gave us inspiration of possibility of how we could change ours. As with language, the greater depth of ideas we possess the more we can wield it to change our own world. PlayStation’s motto for the PS2 was “Live In Your World. Play In Ours”. The power of our imagination is making imagination into reality, and thus was why the 80’s to 90’s possessed so much magic without technology as we know it now. It gave people the opportunity to dream of the world as they saw fit and it reflected into our reality, and I believe gaming can do and be the very same thing because it even lets you interact with worlds that could be in our own minds.

What CodysseyXP Will Stand For.

This website will be the old, hardy oak within a world of plastic, synthetic quality entertainment that forgot why it was famous in the first place. This website will stand as a testament of the human spirit and what it can mean for the future we’re entering, to decide our own destinies and make it more beautiful than ever before. I’ll entertain you all, I’ll be right there with you all, I’ll inspire you all, and in turn it will inspire me. I will be focusing on intentional, low edit, NO AI, meditative and sober let’s plays of the games we grew up with, remarking on late night 90’s TV that had no intention to treat anyone as a metric but as a person while also being respectful of the original creators. I’ll be commentating and playing right there with you all as crowds can witness games that many have forgotten, and if it sparks a memory, will allow you to dwell in the beauty of nostalgia and remembering those wonderful times. This will include the PS2, PS1, Gamecube, Wii, DS, GameBoy, Xbox, SNES, NES, 3DO, Sega Genesis and CD, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, Commodore Amiga, Classic and Modern Arcade games, CDi, Laserdiscs, the Atari Jaguar, and even beyond.

Finally, Thank You. Truly.

Live in the world you desire, and make it true to life. That is what I want to bring to the world, and remark on beauty, human expression, and remove the robotic nature of the internet as we know now and simply bring back humanity to us all. I want to earn your trust and in turn I will be the best I can be for you all, I’m so excited for this journey with all of you and finally, remember to Believe In Yourself. Think different and send a prayer out every once in a while, have faith and mountains will move to make miracles even in the darkest hour. I will strive to be a comfort and inspiration to every single one of you, and CodysseyXP will stand as a statement beyond the name itself with your support. Thank you all for your support during the last few years, it means the world to me.

Excelsior.

“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”
